Maalaea

Located west of Kahului, across the valley that sits between Maui’s two volcanoes, Haleakala and the West Maui Mountains. You’ll enjoy the large harbor and aquarium Maui Ocean Center.

North Kihei

North Kihei is one of the most centrally located spots on Maui, close to good beaches and is a great place to live and work. Sugar Beach, which runs roughly 4 miles from Maalaea well into the north Kihei area, is one of the best walking beaches on Maui. Especially nice for morning walks before the winds pick up from Maalaea, known as the world’s second most windy harbor.

North Kihei has a mixture of affordable homes, residential and resort condos for sale.  The Mokuolele Highway runs from north Kihei to Kahului, allowing for a short 10-minute commute from Kihei to the shopping areas and entertainment in Kahului.

Central Kihei

Central Kihei (downtown), where the Piilani Hwy is connected by Piikea Ave to South  Kihei Road, which runs along the beaches and resort condos by Piikea Avenue.  The Maui Nui Golf Club (formerly known as The Elleair Golf Club) is at one end, the mauka (mountain) side, and ends just before you get to the beach. 

Central Kihei is also great for walking trails, bike trails, restaurants and shopping and is the gathering place for Kihei’s Fourth Fridays, a neighborhood town party.   It is also the location of Maui’s Research and Technology Center, where you can visit the Maui Brewing Company.

With a real “neighborhood” feel, the homes in the Central Kihei area are among the nicest and most affordable of the resort areas.

South Kihei: Kihei Beach Condos

South Kihei is home to some of the more popular Kihei real estate - Kamaole Sands, The Royal Mauian and dozens of others.  It’s also the home of several famous beaches, including Charley Young Beach, Cove Beach and the Kamaole Beaches – Kam I, Kam II and Kam III.

Wailea

Just past Kihei you’ll find one of the more exclusive areas of Maui, Wailea, and further south, Makena.  Coming in from Piilani Highway, the entrance to Wailea is marked by the Wailea Gateway Center, home of a favorite happy hour/sunset restaurant, The Monkeypod Kitchen. 

Following past South Kihei Road, you’ll arrive at the Shops at Wailea, featuring designer high-end shopping and boutiques along with more Hawaiiana oriented brands. 

Following Wailea Alanui Drive you’ll arrive at exclusive resorts/golf courses like the Fairmont Kea Lani and the Grand Wailea. If you prefer to own oceanfront property in Wailea instead of renting, you might be interested in resorts like Wailea Ekahi and Wailea Elua.

The mauka (mountain) side of Wailea is lined with the three courses of the famous Wailea Golf Club, the Emerald, the Blue and the Gold.

Makena

Makena is home to exclusive and beautiful multi-million dollar homes and Maui investment properties for sale lining Makena Road and Makena Alanui Road. There is also the private Makena Golf & Beach Club, where an old hotel is being redeveloped with exclusive housing options.  The beaches in Wailea and Makena are stunningly beautiful and a most popular spot for destination weddings.
